Promises Fulfilled in Christ

2 Cor 1:20: For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Promises of God in the OT

Gen 12:2-3b: And I will make you a great nation; and I will bless you and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing. And…in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

Lev 26:12:  I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.

Deut 4:29: But if from there you will seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Promises of Jesus in the Gospels

Matt 6:31-33: Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans strive after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

Matt 11:28-30: Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Matt 28:20b: And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Mark 10:29-31: “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Luke 4:18-19, 21: The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. . . Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.

Luke 10:18-19: Jesus said, “I saw Satan fall like lighting from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 4:14: But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

John 8:12: I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.

John 8:36: So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

John 10:10b: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.

John 10:28: I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 11:25: Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.

John 14:12: Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

John 14:16: I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

John 14:26: But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to remembrance all that I said to you.

John 14:27: Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 15:5: Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

John 16:33b: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!
